Have Your Cake and Eat It Too

Have Your Cake and Eat It Too

Birthdays, graduations, weddings, holidays: there’s always something to celebrate, and food is a key part of celebrations. However, nothing can spoil your celebration faster than your diet. That cake looks delicious, but it’s not on your diet. Do you skip the cake and feel deprived, or do you cheat on your diet? It’s a dilemma, but what if I told you there was a way to have your cake and eat it too? What if there was a way you could honor your health without restricting foods you love?

As a registered dietitian, clients often ask me if I’m going to take away their favorite foods, but that’s not my approach. I use an Intuitive Eating approach to help you find true health and satisfaction. When you eat what you really want, it takes less food to feel satisfied. On the other hand, if you eat a substitute for what you really want, you might eat a lot more food and still not feel satisfied. You can never have enough of what you really don’t want. The next time you’re craving something, try an experiment, have the exact food you’re craving, and as you eat it, savor it. You might worry that enjoying your food will lead you to bad eating habits, but research has found the opposite is true. If you would like to improve your health while finding more enjoyment in eating, reach out to me for a complimentary call. Visit my website at www.abundantlifenutrition.net to learn more.
