The holidays are coming!
It’s a time of year known for being busy and stressful. You likely have several invitations to gatherings, a list of people to send holiday cards to, and the daunting task of braving the crowds to find gifts for your loved ones. All of this, on top of your normal everyday life, can be overwhelming.
We wanted to share with you some of our favorite ways to navigate this busy, stressful time of year and make this season more enjoyable, less stressful, and a time you will fondly remember.
Put forth great effort to be present.
It’s almost a reflex to pick up our phones when we have a free moment. One idea is to leave electronics in another room.
Don’t allow yourself the temptation to pick up your phone and disengage from your loved ones. Stop and think through what’s going on around you. What do you smell, hear, and feel? Focus on dialing in and being present.
Give up those expectations.
Dropping the expectation of perfection allows you to be prepared for when things don’t go as planned. There is joy to be found in each situation. When things go awry, spend your energy finding gratitude in your circumstances and enjoying as much of your time as you possibly can.
Find time to move.
It’s important to keep moving! Even if it’s just a brisk walk, get outside, breathing in fresh air, while burning off calories and keeping your heart rate up.
